Frequently asked questions

Answers drawn from the Center’s Constitution. Can’t find yours? Message us and we will help.

Joining the Center

Who can join?

The Center is for women aged 18 and above. Applying does not guarantee admission or class placement; the administration and the Academic Committee place each student after an interview.

Are admissions open now?

Admissions open in set periods. When they are closed, you can leave your name, country and phone number and we will message you when the next period opens.

Do I choose my own class?

No. You do not choose a class on the application. You are placed in a class after your interview.

What does a student need?

A phone or computer, WhatsApp, and enough data to join live calls, ideally from a quiet place. Students who miss part of a class because of network or data problems catch up from the summary and the text shared in the group.

How classes run

How are classes taught?

Live, online, through WhatsApp. Each class has its own WhatsApp group managed by the administration and a facilitator or Supervisor. For workshops the Center may use Google Meet, with notice.

What happens in a class?

A class follows this order: joining, opening, Qur’an recitation, the lesson, questions, summary and assignment, then the closing du‘ā’. See “How a class runs” on the Academic calendar page.

Where do I find the timetable?

On the Programmes page, and pinned in your class group.

What if I miss a class?

Tell your Class Prefect or facilitator before the class if you can. Promotion needs at least 75% attendance in a term unless an excuse is accepted by the Academic Committee.

Fees and scholarships

How much does it cost?

A one-time registration fee of GH₵200 and a monthly fee of GH₵50 per student.

How do I pay?

By Mobile Money (Momo Pay) using the steps on the Admissions page, or online where that is switched on.

Are fees refunded?

No. Fees are not refunded, so please confirm payment instructions with the administration before paying.

Are there scholarships?

Yes. The Center supports orphans and the less privileged. You can request a scholarship on the application form, and the administration will review it.

Studies and results

How are students assessed?

Through continuous assessment (assignments, recitation, participation and short tests) and an examination in each subject. The pass mark is 50% in each subject unless the Academic Committee announces otherwise.

Are certificates issued?

No. Under the Constitution, certificates are not given to students after the examinations. Students are informed of their results, and students who perform extraordinarily are given books as a reward.

Can I pause my studies?

Yes. Speak to the Supervisor of your class. When you come back, you register again.

Your privacy

Is my personal information private?

Yes. Members’ personal data is kept private and used only for the work of the Center. Read the Privacy policy for details.

Can private questions be asked in the group?

Personal questions, especially on women’s matters, go privately to the facilitator or a designated female administrator, not in the group.

Still have a question?
